Carnival del Corazon a Success!
As an artist response to the disaster in Haiti, Catalyst Community, LBCreative!, Pedal Movement and 13 organizations collaborated to put on an awesome festival called Carnival del Corazon: my h(art) goes out to Haiti on Sunday, Feb. 28th.
We had over 120 contributing artists involved from numerous genres and arts disciplines, more than 40 volunteers, dozens of business sponsors, and over 500 people from the community. Together, we raised over $3,000 for a non-profit organization called Yele Haiti.
For a completely grassroots movement of regular people being catalysts, that is incredible!

Pedal Movement
 There's been a lot of work being put in for Pedal Movement's new HUB located at 1740 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, CA (south of PCH). This new space will be used for bike maintenance and education for the community.
We could definitely use volunteers to help with renovating, painting, sweeping, mopping, and a number of other things to help get it ready for our April grand opening. We're open 12-5pm every day. Can you help?
We also have a growing list of items that we'd appreciate donations for including tools, cleaning supplies, snacks, lumber, sofa, desks, bike parts and more.
The next Pedal Movement monthly meeting will be Monday, March 8th from 7:30 - 9pm at the HUB.

Getting Ready for Green Long Beach! Festival
 Plans are underway in organizing the 2nd Annual Green Long Beach! Festival on Saturday, May 22nd.
We'll need vendors, organizations, artists, musicians, performers, sponsors, and of course volunteers! Stay tuned at www.greenLB.org as details develop.

East Village Farmers Market
 We've been working with Raw Inspiration to help make the East Village Farmers Market on Saturday mornings more lively. Starting March 20th, we'll start having local artists, musicians, and dancers from 11am - 1pm during the Market there on 1st Street between Linden Ave and Elm Ave.

Experience African Heritage
 Starting March 19th from 7pm - 9pm, every Friday night we'll be learning together some African drumming and dancing along with having engaging discussion on a variety of topics ranging from nutrition, women, cross-cultural interactions, and more.
